Kansas

Kansas

Kansas has one of the country’s busiest air-transportation centers.  Known as the Air Capitol of the Midwest, Wichita is home to McConnell Air Force Base, Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, Colonel James Jabara Airport, several private aircraft manufacturers, and numerous private airports.  To reduce the number of wildlife strikes at these facilities, WS personnel in Kansas contributed 1.8333 staff years to provide assistance at 19 civil and 1 joint use airport in FY 2010.  In addition, technical training was provided at 9 airports for 78 airport personnel.
