With more than 100 airports, Florida is second only to California in reported wildlife collisions with aircraft.  The latest Federal Aviation Administration report showed 5,843 bird strikes at Florida airports from 1990 to 2008.  To address these hazards, the Florida WS program contributed 8.583 staff years to provide assistance at 27 civil, 2 joint use, and 12 military airports for a total of 41 airports in FY 2010.  In addition, technical training was provided at 4 airports for 27 airport personnel.
