WS Research on Airport Wildlife Hazards and Management

Divider

WS conducts wildlife surveys at airports.WS’ National Wildlife Research Center (NWRC) complements WS field work by conducting research to develop better wildlife damage management techniques for airports.  WS NWRC scientists are studying exclusion devices on storm ponds and airport storm water management, the attraction of food-waste composting sites to birds hazardous to aviation, the use of colored lighting and frequency of light pulsation as a way to help birds detect and avoid aircraft, and the use of radar to supplement visual observations by wildlife biologists on airfields.
