APHIS Extends Comment Period for Public Input on Environmental Assessment for the Biological Control of Yellow Toadflax

The U.S. Department of Agriculture‚Äôs Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is extending the comment period for the draft environmental assessment (EA) for the biological control of yellow toadflax, Linaria vulgaris.  APHIS will now accept comments until November 16, 2017. 

APHIS published the draft EA on October 2, 2017.  The EA considers the potential effects of and alternatives to the field release of a stem gall weevil, Rhinusa pilosa, as a biological control agent to reduce the severity of yellow toadflax infestations.  Yellow toadflax is an invasive plant in pastures and crops that displaces other native and planted species. 

APHIS invites the public to review and comment on the EA by November 16, 2017.  Learn more at
