Summary

Japan’s government requested that APHIS evaluate the HPAI and Newcastle disease status of the country. APHIS has prepared a risk evaluation and has determined that Japan is free of both diseases.  APHIS has also determined that Japan’s surveillance, prevention and control measures will adequately minimize the risk of introducing these diseases into the United States through imports or any susceptible products.  APHIS is making the evaluation and environmental assessment available for review and comment for 30 days.  After the comment period ends, APHIS will review all comments received and will make a final determination.
