EXPORT OF ANIMAL PRODUCTS TO SOUTH AFRICA - JULY 15, 1997

South Africa has notified APHIS that they will not accept VS Form 16-4. Certificates for animal products exported to South Africa should be issued on letterhead.

South Africa develops very specific import requirements for each shipment of a product coming from a particular manufacturer. The AVIC endorsing a health certificate for a shipment going to South Africa should ask for a copy of the import permit to ensure that all the requirements have been met. Each import permit is good only for one shipment. The following certificates should be valid for the products listed below, regardless of manufacturer. However, it is still a good idea to check the import permit.
