ANIMAL PRODUCTS TO INDIA
India currently prohibits the importation from any country (including the United States) all products of avian or porcine origin (except processed pig bristles). This prohibition is a response by the Indian government to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in the world.
In order for many animal origin products to be imported into India, the Indian importer must obtain an import permit from the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying, and Fisheries (DADF), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The DADF issued import permit will generally state import requirements.
