National Animal Health Reporting System Provides Data for Confirmed Diseases

National Animal Health Reporting System (NAHRS) is a joint effort of USAHA, AAVLD, and VS. NAHRS was designed to provide data from chief State animal health officials in the United States on the presence of confirmed clinical diseases of major international significance in livestock (cattle, goats, horses, sheep, swine, commercial poultry, and aquaculture). Participation is voluntary. NAHRS ended FY 2002 with 34 States reporting and five States in the process of finalizing plans to report on the presence/absence of clinical occurrences of OIE-listed diseases. States report on a monthly basis and an annual summary report is used in preparation of the required annual report to OIE.
