Functions of
the Import/Export section of USDA, APHIS, VS in Texas
The Import/Export section is responsible for the proper
importation and exportation of live animals, their germ plasm, and of animal
products and by-products. Accomplishing these goals not only prevents the
entry of foreign animal diseases into this country, but it protects the
integrity
of our own exports by assuring that all proposed shipments comply with
the country of destination's entry requirements.
There are 5 land border ports for the import and export
of livestock along the Texas/Mexico border stretching from Presidio to
the Rio Grande Valley in deep south Texas. The map below lists the
US and Mexico cities where the border ports are located.
