NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY: The United States Department of Agriculture, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services (WS) has issued a Decision and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Environmental Assessment (EA), “Field Trial of an Experimental Rabies Vaccine, Human Adenovirus Type 5 Vector, in New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Vermont, and West Virginia. The EA analyzed the potential environmental effects of a proposed field trial in New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Vermont, and West Virginia; including portions of USDA Forest Service lands, but excluding Wilderness Areas, to determine the safety immunogenicity of the human adenovirus type-5 rabies glycoprotein recombinant vaccine (AdRG1.3).
After review of the EA and information from public comments, WS has selected Alternative 2, the proposed action. The alternative will be most effective in developing methods to contain, and eventually eliminate, the raccoon rabies virus variant. The analysis contained in the EA and decision/ FONSI concluded that the proposed action will not have a significant impact on the quality of the human environment.
Public Noticed Until September 27, 2012
