Animal Products to Hungary

Hungary is a member state of the European Union. The European Union has harmonized import requirements for certain animal origin products. For harmonized protocols (for commodities not listed below) please refer to the general information file for the European Union.

*When there is Doubt Which Certification Requirements Apply* - Steps to follow - June 2014 (pdf 13kb)

Language Requirement for Certificates
Hungary generally requires certificates to be in Hungarian (which means APHIS certificates would have to be in Hungarian and English). However, some Hungarian border inspection posts (BIPs) may be willing to accept English certificates. In other cases, the Hungarian BIP may be willing to accept the English certificate if an official translation (created by a licensed translator in Hungary) is attached. Exporters should have their importers confirm with the pertinent BIP prior to shipment if English certificates are acceptable, and if not if an English translation accompanied by an official translation would be acceptable. In cases where the BIP requires the official certificate to be in Hungarian, the exporter can work with their importer to create a truly bilingual version of the certificate prior to presentation to APHIS for endorsement.
