Holiday Greenery Pests |

Movement of Christmas trees and holiday wreaths, among other articles, is federally regulated in certain areas of the country to prevent the spread of forest pests such as gypsy moth, pine shoot beetle, and Phytophthora ramorum (cause of sudden oak death). PPQ regulations, as well as some State regulations, require that certain conditions be met for Christmas trees and wreaths to move out of a quarantine area. PPQ and State regulatory employees routinely work with Christmas tree farms and other holiday greenery establishments in quarantine areas to make sure companies are aware of the requirements for movement. This page is intended to be a resource to help buyers, suppliers, and shippers follow the regulations.
