USDA AMENDS KARNAL BUNT REGULATIONS IN CALIFORNIA
June 3, 2009
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is amending the Karnal bunt regulations to remove certain areas or fields in Riverside County, Calif., from the list of regulated areas based on its determination that those areas or fields meet APHIS’ criteria for release from regulation of Karnal bunt, a fungal disease of wheat. This action will relieve restrictions on certain areas or fields that are no longer necessary.
Notice of this interim rule is scheduled to be published in the June 4 Federal Register and becomes effective upon publication.
