USDA SEEKS NOMINATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP TO THE NATIONAL WILDLIFE SERVICES ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WASHINGTON, Nov. 29, 2007--The U.S. Department of Agriculture plans to reactivate the Secretary’s National Wildlife Services Advisory Committee before its 2-year sunset and encourages membership nominations by Jan. 14. The 20-member committee is responsible for advising the Agriculture Secretary concerning policies, program issues and research needed to support the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Services’ (APHIS) wildlife services program. The committee also serves as a public forum enabling those interested in wildlife services’ program activities to have a voice in the program’s policies.
USDA recognizes wildlife’s value as a public resource. APHIS’ wildlife services program provides federal leadership in managing problems that occur when human activity and wildlife are in conflict with one another.
Current members can be re-nominated to serve 2-year terms on the new committee if they have not served more than three consecutive terms.
The notice of intent to reactivate the Committee is scheduled for publication in the
Nov. 29 Federal Register. The notice seeking committee members will be published in the Nov. 30 Federal Register. Consideration will be given to nominations received on or before Jan. 14, 2008 submitted by postal mail, commercial delivery or by e-mail. Send an original and three copies by postal mail or commercial delivery to Docket No. APHIS-2007-0094, addressed to Joanne Garrett, director, operational support staff, USDA, APHIS, WS, 4700 River Road, Unit 87, Riverdale, MD 20737-1234. Send e-mail nominations to joanne.p.garrett@aphis.usda.gov with Docket No. APHIS-2007-0094 on the subject line and the nominee’s name and address and supporting information contained in the text of the message, but do not include attached files.
