USDA SEEKS AGENDA TOPICS FOR A MEETING ON THE MANUFACTURE, DISTRIBUTION AND USE OF VETERINARY BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTS

WASHINGTON, Dec. 4, 2006--The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is currently requesting agenda topics for a meeting on veterinary biological products scheduled to run from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on March 28 and 29, 2007, at the Scheman Building, in Ames, Iowa, at the Iowa State University campus.

The theme for this year's meeting is influenza and topics that have been suggested thus far include:  

  • Avian, swine and equine influenza related issues;
  • Pandemic influenza preparedness and related issues;
  • Conditional licenses for canine influenza vaccines;
  • Influenza diagnostics (rapid and otherwise); and
  • Veterinary Services and Center for Veterinary Biologics related issues.

APHIS would also like to invite interested parties to present their ideas and suggestions concerning the licensing, manufacturing, testing, distribution and regulation of products designed to diagnose, prevent or treat animal diseases at this meeting.
