Donating Blood and Administrative Leave

Giving Blood is a good thing . . . But how much excused absence (administrative leave) can I get afterward?

MRP policy states that if you are donating blood for which no compensation will be received you may be granted up to 4 hours of excused absence for rest and recuperation purposes. The 4 hours is in addition to the time required for the actual donation. Apply for the excused absence in advance with your supervisor. Discuss with your supervisor the amount of time that you believe you will need. If for example, you only need 2 hours, then that's what you should request. Refer questions to your supervisor, resource management staff or your servicing personnel office.

Do I have to use all of the excused absence on the day I give blood?

Can I use the time to go out for lunch or leave my work site early?
