Q: How will my application be rated?

A: If the announcement is using vacancy specific questions, your responses to the vacancy specific questions are the basis for a numerical rating calculated by the system, in accordance with a built-in rating and ranking scheme. The vacancy specific questions used are derived from competency questions defined by the selecting official in consultation with a human resource specialist, and have been validated by MRP subject matter experts.

If the announcement is using essay style knowledge, skills and ability questions, your essay answers will be reviewed by human resource personnel. Upon review your answers will be scored based upon a rating plan predefined by the selecting official in consultation with a human resource specialist, and validated by MRP subject matter experts.

Q: Is my information rated instantly?

A: If the announcement is using vacancy specific questions, yes. If the announcement is using essay style knowledge, skills, and abilties questions, no, a human resources personnel will be rating your information after the announcement closes.

Keep in mind you may change your responses for all announcements until midnight, Eastern time, on the closing date. Therefore, the rating will not be final until the closing date of the vacancy announcement.  All ratings are not final until reviewed and verified by human resources personnel.  Your final rating is based upon the vacancy questions or knowledge, skills and abilties questions and review by human resources personnel.
