APHIS Internal Coaching |

ESLS will provide five types of distinctly different coaching services, utilizing a combination of internal and external coaches. The type of coaching services required will be determined on an individual case-by case basis in consultation with an Executive Consultant from ESLS. These five types of coaching services are available to all APHIS leaders:
APHIS Internal Coaching – This coaching brings the added benefit of APHIS experience to the table. Agency Leaders who have a desire to share their lessons learned while on their own leadership journey comprise a pool of internal peer coaches. These coaches were selected based on their wish to give back, their sustained performance, and their tenure. They have been instructed in our methodology of coaching and can give you that unique perspective of having walked in your shoes. This may include:
The key to the success of this relationship is in the matching process. ESLS will match your desired coaching situation with APHIS Leaders who have expressed the ability to coach in that specific area. Based on the specialized nature of this process, matching will occur twice per year, and it is conceivable that a plausible match may not exist.
As is implicit in the name of this service, you could be both a coach and a coachee at the same time and ESLS would encourage all leaders to carve time out to assist in the development of the future talent of APHIS. The institutional knowledge you have to offer is a treasure we need to see discovered and perpetuated.
How does a Leader initiate the Coaching Process?
Individual leaders within APHIS are encouraged to contact ESLS for coaching support. The Executive Consultants will work with individuals to determine the appropriate coaching resource; additionally ESLS may recommend and initiate coaching as well.
APHIS Internal Coaching - The ESLS Branch will manage a semi-annual matching process by which we pair volunteer Leader Coaches with self-selected Leader Coachees. During this season, ESLS will solicit leaders for interest in obtaining a peer coach. Within two months, all coaching requests will be vetted and matched with possible coaches. You, as coachee, will then interview your group of potential matches and select and contract with your choice. To be a coach or coachee in this process, you may complete the appropriate application form.
