Eighth Annual Emergency Preparedness Satellite Seminar

Learn about emergency management issues in animal agriculture.
Where
Many Federal and State government facilities will have downlink capabilities
such as the State Extension Service, Veterans Administration hospitals,
and the Farm Bureau. In addition, most community colleges and
universities will allow use of their facilities for a nominal fee or
for free. A list of registered downlink sites will be updated
and posted on the following Web site:

Agenda
Topics to be covered include:
• Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) in Canada—Canadian
health officials will discuss the impact on their country of the finding
of BSE and lessons learned from the experience.
• Highly pathogenic Avian Influenza—A health official from
the European Union will discuss the outbreak in the Netherlands, Belgium,
and Germany.
• Exotic Newcastle Disease (END) in California—Members of
the END task force will give an overview of task force activities that
took place during the past year as well as the current status of the
situation.
• Infectious Salmon Anemia—Learn about the outbreak and
cleanup in Maine in 2001 and the most recent outbreak. There will
be time for questions from the audience and an hour break for lunch.
Continuing Education Credit (CEU)
This seminar has been submitted to the American Association of Veterinary
State Boards to allow 3 hours of CEU credits for seminar attendance.

Cost
There will be no charge for participant materials or CEU certificates.
The costs of participating in the satellite broadcast are based
on your site registration, possible charges for operating your satellite
equipment, and the time it will take you to participate.
