Entry with Inspection

There are different types of inspections which involve the official visual examination of commodities to determine if pests are present and/or to determine compliance with phytosanitary regulations:

  • Inspection on arrival: the physical examination of a consignment, carrier, or passenger baggage upon arrival at the first port of entry;
  • Inspection at origin: pre-clearance in the country of origin, performed by APHIS and under the cooperation or authorization of the plant protection organization in the country of origin.
