Plant Import Information

Sweet Potato - Ipomoea species (continued)

Sweet potato germplasm should reach the unit in February or March to be included in the summer testing program. Infected sweet potatoes will be subjected to meristem tip culture and heat therapy, and then retested to ensure the elimination of pathogens by the therapeutic treatment. This treatment will typically add one year to the quarantine period. Sweet potatoes are shipped to each recipient in the form of 3-4 in vitro plantlets per line.
