There are numerous government agencies involved in aquaculture.

The Joint Subcommittee on Aquaculture (JSA) serves as the Federal interagency coordinating group.

The JSA oversaw the drafting of the National Aquatic Animal Health Plan (NAAHP) to provide government agencies with guidelines and general principles for protecting aquatic animal health in the United States. Learn more about the NAAHP.

USDA plays a large role in aquaculture, with several of its agencies involved in everything from disease prevention to disease prevention and research to marketing and economics. View the USDA Aquaculture page.
