The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal Plant Health and Inspection Service (APHIS) is notifying the public that Uganda and Zimbabwe have been added to the list of countries/regions affected by Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) of any subtype. These actions come after HPAI was confirmed in those countries. In response to those outbreaks, APHIS placed restrictions on the importation of poultry, commercial birds, other types of birds (research, performing), ratites, any avian hatching eggs, unprocessed avian products and byproducts, and certain fresh poultry products from those countries.
