Summary

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is announcing the availability of an environmental assessment (EA) regarding the biological control of hoary cress.  Hoary cress are invasive plants that impede crop production, minimize grazing potential of rangelands, degrade wildlife habitat and native plant communities and restrict waterfowl’s use of wetlands and stream banks.  The EA considers the effects of a mite, Aceria drabae, released as a biological control agent to reduce the severity of hoary cress infestations.

APHIS invites the public to review and comment on the EA by January 4, 2018.  Learn more at http://www.regulations.gov/#!docketDetail;D=APHIS-2017-0086
