Animal Care awarded the first Chester A. Gipson Internship Program scholarship to Shayla Jackson

Animal Care awarded the first Chester A. Gipson Internship Program scholarship to Shayla Jackson, a student at North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine. To celebrate, Animal Care hosted an inaugural scholarship  ceremony on July 24th at the Oklahoma City Conference Center in Riverdale, Maryland.

The Chester A. Gipson Internship Program for Students in Veterinary Medicine and Other Biomedical Science Fields is part of USDA’s Pathways Program. The Pathways Program offers different pathway opportunities to Federal careers for students and recent graduates.

In addition to receiving scholarship funding, Shayla will be a Veterinary Student Trainee and participate in a comprehensive mentorship and career development program in Animal Care.
