International Movement of Horses

Horses travel internationally more frequently than any other animal species. For other animal species, travel is most often a single trip, whereas for horses, the same horses will make many trips to and from foreign countries. This is the single most important factor in the global spread of equine infectious diseases.
As an accredited veterinarian, one of your roles is protecting the health of the nation's equine herd. It is important to work with your clients as they import and export horses and equine products (e.g., semen, embryos) to make sure equine health and the economy are not negatively impacted.
