Scenario Planning Reports

Scenarios are reports that forecast possible future events that could have a significant impact on VS. The intent of these scenarios is to stimulate thinking by VS planners about (1) what future conditions or events are possible or probable, (2) what the consequences or effects would be, and (3) how VS would respond or benefit from them.
Meat Anticipating the future: VS scenario set in 2009 (2001) (PDF 2.3 MB) - CAHIA (formerly The Center for Emerging Issues (CEI), prepared four scenarios for the Committee for the Future of VS.  The process CEI used to develop the scenarios involved: identifying key forces affecting agriculture and current trends for these forces, determining which outcomes are inevitable and identifying the critical uncertainties.  CEI then wove these uncertainties into plots for four plausible scenarios for the future of U.S. animal agriculture.
