Are you involved in 4-H or FFA? If you or your students raise chicks or poultry or plan to show birds at a local fair, you may be interested in helping your students learn what they can do to prevent their birds from getting sick from diseases like avian Influenza or exotic Newcastle disease while educating your community at the same time.
APHIS has partnered with FFA and 4-H for the AI Fairs initiative. Through this effort, teachers and advisors with FFA and 4-H can receive free materials about AI and exotic Newcastle disease that their students can set up in an educational booth near poultry exhibits at their county or state fairs or at poultry shows and exhibitions.
The fair packages for 2013 will include basic brochures and calendars. Other materials (coloring books, word games, videos) will remain available for download.
This year, 45 fair packages will available on a first-come, first-serve basis. To order your fair package (limit one per group), please click here (link to: https://web01.aphis.usda.gov/PRTDIST/WebOrder/WOEIS.nsf ) and then search for item BFP-2013. Please note that the item will no longer appear once all available packages have been ordered.
