annual economy and directly and indirectly providing 42,000 jobs.
Agriculture in Hawaii is evolving as economic and social factors
change here and globally. The future of local agriculture remains
full of economic potential. Therefore, support for Hawaii agriculture
has never been more important than at present.
Washington is a major livestock producing state with a high volume
of beef and dairy production as well as a leader in the field
of Aquaculture. Washington is a principal gateway for exporting
animals and animal products to Asia via Seattle International
Airport and by way of our seaports. There is also a considerable
amount of livestock shipments through our ports on the Canadian
border.
