North Carolina’s agricultural industry is one of the most diverse
and unique in the United States. From the Great Smoky Mountains
to the beautiful Carolina beaches, over 50,000 farmers contribute
more than 80 different commodities to the nation’s economy. North
Carolina produces the largest pig crop in the nation and the second
largest number of turkeys. Other significant animal industries
in North Carolina include: broiler chickens, eggs, dairy products,
cattle, and meat goats.
