APHIS has devised a new, innovative model to provide improved efficiency in meeting the implementation and delivery needs of the various services and programs provided by the agency. As a result of this, it has been determined that the USDA APHIS VS Maryland, Delaware, and Washington DC Area office will close and will merge with the Virginia Area office. Together, we will be working to continue to serve our accredited veterinarians, customers, and stakeholders out of the Richmond, Virginia Area office. Veterinary services and animal health programs will continue to be provided with assurance and confidence.
One of the more pressing items of concern to our veterinarians and customers will be the endorsement of international health certificates. Endorsement of health certificates by appointment in Annapolis will be ending on June 29, 2012. Thereafter, endorsement will remain available through appointment and mail return service at the Virginia Area office.
USDA veterinarians and animal health technicians will remain in their field activities and continue to provide the same high quality of service on which you currently depend.

We
do not recommend that clients solely rely on Internet
directions because clients often become lost when they
do and the recommended exit is not the safest way to get
off of US 50. We recommend the following:
By
Road from DC/Virginia
US 50 East towards the Bay Bridge. Exit at Exit 30 to
3-way-stop. Turn left (east) onto Whitehall Road. Go .75
mile to Jamal Bay 50 Shopping Center (just after Quality
Inn). USDA-Veterinary Services office is located in east
end of shopping center.
(Note: if you use MapQuest or a similar program it may
direct you to use exit 31. We don’t recommend it as it
is a very short turn-off from a high-speed road and people
often get lost using it- exit 30 is safer).
From
Delaware and Maryland-Eastern Shore
US 50/301 to
the Bay Bridge. Just as you are coming even with the toll
booths on the west side of the bridge, (but no toll westbound)
take exit 32. It curls around and goes over top of US
50 to a “T” with Oceanic Drive. Turn right and go about
.75 miles and stop sign (by a used car dealer). Go straight
through the intersection and the Jemal Bay 50 shopping
center is on your left. Take the first entrance into the
parking lot and our office is located in the east end of the shopping center.
