AgDiscovery Program Mission/Objective

- provide students an opportunity to live on
a campus while learning about agricultural science through a series
of workshops, labs, and field trips facilitated by college professors,
Plant Protection and Quarantine Officers, Veterinary Medical Offices,
and Veterinary and Agricultural students;
- identify and recruit students who are interested
in agricultural science;
- increase awareness of career opportunities within APHIS; and
- provide demonstrations in veterinary medicine, animal
science and plant pathology.
The sponsoring Universities for the 2013 AgDiscovery Program are:

APHIS and the sponsoring university recruit
students via direct mailings to high schools throughout the State
in which the university is located, and in some cases throughout
the entire region of the university. The university's official website and the APHIS website
are also utilized to recruit candidates.
A panel of APHIS employees is assembled to evaluate the applicants and select participants based on the following:
- Proper completion of the application package
- Composition and content of the essay
- Three references
The selected students will be notified of acceptance by mail and telephone.
